I never did get the replacement coffee maker for my office this weekend (did manage to get the grocery shopping done though, along with a trip to Trader Joe's and another trip to Border's). I'm hoping that I'll feel up to stopping off somewhere on my way home from the hospital tomorrow and pick one up then.
The Socialist got a card in the mail from Border's Books that they were having Teacher's Appreciation days this weekend. This meant he got 25% off of most items in the store. The discount wasn't just for items he'd need in the classroom, but for personal items as well. He purchased serveral CD's, and I got Roseann Cash's new CD, A Four Bitchin' Babes CD, and de Lint's newest collection of short stories. The savings stacked up to a not insignificant amount. Pity they don't have veterinarian appreciation days at Borders.
Spring has foresaken us in a big way at the moment. Today was cold and drizzly. Towards the end of the afternoon ice pellets were mixed in with the rain. Then, in early evening, it switched over to snow for a while. Yesterday afternoon the temperatures were in the low 70's. Tonight they're dropping to the low twenties. This weather is appropriate only for April 1st. And even then I'd have gladly given it a miss.
I had been planning to purchase some pansies for my little garden area outside. They're cold tolerant, and I could put some in right now to brighten up the front door a bit. But today at Trader Joe's I saw something to make me change my mind. Primroses! They were gorgeous - richly colored, dense with flowers and perky looking even in the sleet. I must have primroses for my garden. Another hunter/gatherer mission for tomorrow, assuming I have the energy after being drained.
Sitting at my computer, I just realized how chilly the air is. What I need is a furry bathrobe, a fire in a fireplace, and a hot buttered rum. What I'll have to settle for is a kitten on the lap. Come to think of it, that doesn't sound too bad, does it?
