Having said that, the pharmacist who first took me under his wing was incredibly patient, and I was feeling rather optimistic about things. The second pharmacist who showed up about half-way through my shift was a little less personable, but stayed patient until about 5:30 when people started leaving work and were stopping in to the pharmacy to pick up things on the way home. My lack of skill at the register began to truly hinder things at that time and I almost got the feeling that the pharmacist on duty was more than glad to see me leave for the day.
I think right now my biggest problem is that I don't know enough to be helpful, so when I run out of things to do I don't know what to do next. I alternate between walking through the stock, trying to familiarize myself with where everything is, and hovering over the printer waiting for more orders to be printed so I can go back to counting pills and shelving bottles.
It isn't much, but it's a paycheck.
My schedule is set for Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. I'll admit I'm surprised they didn't want me for at least one weekend day, but I guess they aren't as busy over the weekend, when most doctors don't have office hours.
