On the way home I developed the beginnings of another headache. By the time I got home, I knew it was yet again more than just another headache. I fed the kit-kats, figuring that by the time dinnertime came I wasn't going to feel like getting out of bed to feed them. I didn't have my headache pack in the freezer (I'd forgotten to put it in after the last episode), so I grabbed a bag of frozen lima beans, and went to bed. Things got progressively worse, and I ended up spending from 5:00 to 8:00 or so alternating between making barf-runs to the bathroom and praying for death.
Fortunately, my stomach began to settle before 9:00, when my evening pills are due. If I can't keep the pills down, then I have to be hospitalized, and I wanted to avoid that at all costs. By this morning, things had settled down to a gentle throb accompanied by light sensitivity, so I was able to drag my sorry carcass into work. Since I have no more paid sick days, dragging my sorry carcass to work has become a priority.
Today I've been keeping the clip-on shades attached to my bifocals. When anyone asks, I've told them that the case is in the car, and I don't want them to get scratched up, so I'm leaving them on. I figure they probably think I'm doing drugs.
The lima beans thawed out by the time I got up this morning. I don't know what else we're having for dinner, but we're having lima beans.
