As of October 1st, I have been here 4 years as a tenant. I do not regret the moving in. I was coming into a building I considered home today to four years ago at the time I moved in in 2020 from Burbank Plaza on Burbank Ave on the south side of town. Garden Court, in the past year has become one of worst places to live in. With mold in the walls from when the Rock River flooded a few ago on the first floor of the building, and the mold continues to grow up on other floors, nothing was really done to get rid of it. I believe the property management that runs the place has run Garden Court down to what is now slum. I have an air conditioner that needs to be replaced, window that does not shut all the way to be locked in the winter season, and we have tenants who have been causing trouble with another tenant and management does not do anything about it, and they do not do anything about it whatsoever because this tenant has them wrapped around her little finger. It seems that way anyway. They have evicted two tenants for reasons without remedying the situation first, and one of the tenants ended up homeless and died one night nearby because he needed oxygen. A tenant has been spreading a rumor that this gentleman was in the hospital in recovery, but he was sick and needed to be on oxygen, and was evicted for smoking in his apartment with a five-day eviction notice when there are other tenants smoking pot in their apartments. Smoking in an apartment is not a major problem because it can be taken care of better. Garden Court NEEDS to take care of the tenants who are bringing pot into the building, then take care of the wanna-be unruly tenants first, dang it!
Also, maintenance has been coming into my apartment when I am at dialysis, and I have expressed to management I want to be home when they come in. They lie to cover their ass by saying I am home and one of my caregivers is with me. My cats Magic and Millie run and hide when maintenance and management come into my apartment, and we are not home, bless their little hearts. My babies do not like them coming in without me and a caregiver is at my apartment. We end up hearing about it by Magic who meows his experience with Millie not that far behind meowing for Deb to pet her. Sometimes, we hear about it from my neighbor Marie, too. So living at Garden Court has been awful. I am no longer happy. Jackie knows I do not lie about things, but during this crap going on, she plays dumb and agrees with them so they would shut up and leave. Do not worry, Kristi, after they leave, Legal Action, will know about this. Also, I paid $413 for rent because they are saying I am not following HUD guidelines, but I am. WisPACT has specific rules and guidelines, and Garden Court has overstepped their bounds in my life. They are money hungry people who do not care about anyone but themselves. Tenants move in and out of here so fast, it is not even laughable period. I would not shed tears for these people.
