The week is going by very fast. Today for Thursday, I have to admit that it did not start precisely as planned at my end. I'm not particularly eager to wait for my caregiver to come at 11 AM. I would prefer her to arrive at 9;30 AM to get me going for the day. Her not being a morning person does not work for me because she has been my caregiver for a year. Now with my day change and later time to get dialyzed—at 11:44 AM on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, I can relax a little longer before getting ready for my day. The new time is something I have to get used to, and it will take time because change and I do not mix well. Time seems late, and my afternoon is taken by being attached to a dialyzer machine for 2 hours and 45 minutes. This week is my second week at the new clinic, and I love it compared to the old one. The new clinic is more excellent, more significant, and more extensive. The old clinic had only twelve chairs, whereas the new clinic had 22 chairs. The machines are brand new and no longer Gambro machines. The new machines are Fresenius machines. My opinion about the new machine is mixed right now. I like them as far as a computer is concerned, but I do not think the machine likes my catheter when it comes to getting through dialysis in the time frame I was given. Though, I have to give the new machine a thumbs up for getting through treatment yesterday. I have not posted that entry yet. I have been busy getting to posting my entries on time these days.
It has been a year since I have walked, and relearning to walk again has progressed over the past eight months. I can now transfer from bed to chair--recliner or power chair. I have begun using the commode this week since the bathroom is far from me. To stand up and walk to my recliner, power chair, or commode, I must have my leg brace/boot and shoe. With my leg brace being a boot brace, I only wear one shoe--left. I like it, but I wish it were not so heavy -- it is serious. I have dropped it on my left leg a couple of times. I have no more therapy until August 1, 2023. I am not worried about distance when it comes to me walking again. My left foot is just beginning to pick up off the floor when I take steps to my chairs or commode. When a person is relearning to walk after being bedridden for a few months, it does take a lot of work and strength. The strength is there in some ways and not in other places. It can sometimes bring on frustration because what I have been working on for a while does not progress. Well, today, I can say that progress is indeed happening. It is making me want to strive for distance. I have to wait until JP returns from vacation a week from Sunday.
