I had a great time with the Van’s yesterday. I was able to see Grandma Van for a while during my visit even though she slept most of the time I was there. When she woke up she ate her Thanksgiving dinner and ate well for Pastor Van – her son. Watching Grandma Van is like watching a young child who cannot talk yet when she is waking up, eating, and seeing things that we cannot see. Knowing what the Van’s are going through with their mother, mother-in-law, grandma, and aunt, I find understanding with Grandma Van and her childlike actions and mumblings. Grandma Van has Alzheimer’s disease and I can relate because my Grandpa Fox had Alzheimer’s disease as well before he passed away in 2003. Anyway, we had a vegetarian roast, raw carrots, Brussels sprouts, cranberry sauce, sweet potatoes (not a big fan of sweet potatoes but ate them anyway), salad, rolls, and pumpkin pie. Everything tasted very good. As far as the vegetarian roast was concerned CV made it for the first time and thought it turned out too runny but everyone had seconds or thirds of the roast topping it all off with no real leftovers except for one serving. CV is a very good cook and I have always loved her cooking and I do not mind.
