My Life in Words

New Year Thoughts
Thu Dec 26 2024

I hope all of my diarists had a Merry Christmas. With my dad and his wife Sandy coming on Saturday, I have one more Christmas to celebrate with my dad and his wife here at my home. In recent years we have broken away from having traditional holiday meals of festive. foods and desserts with our traditional candies and cookies. It saves on the gettinc things done by a certain. time or not ovrcooking the food. When a relative is missing for the first time for a holiday, it is okay to break the tradition of cooking and fuss, and the fun to do some things different anyway. I do not mind the less hassle of traditional holiday baking and cooking as long as some things are interwoven into our holiday. This year we are having Sandy’s tuna burgers for our holiday meal. for the past couple of years we have been having Swiss steaks or beef tips. from our tradition of turkey and ham holudays with Grandma Fox’s mashed potatoes with sour cream we have to have every year no matter the holiday season of Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner. Dad will make a batch of potatoes for me to have during the week this year as we will have potato chips with our tuna burgers this year instead of swiss steak or beef tips this time. Why not reminisce on‘s good cooking once in a while. While growing up with Sandy being with Sandy since age Sandy since I was 9 years old. I learned the love of cooking and baking. 😘🥰

Delicious indeed. Nothing is different from my stepmom’s cooking than any other stepmom out there really. A tuna burger she grew up on is just an open-faced burger on a muffin with tuna mixed with mayo or miracle whip, cheese, and onions if you want them on your tuna burger, and baked in the oven. Sandy taught us what she grew up on. She would show us recipes and follow instructions to something we haven’t tried before and write comments on what we said about this recipe to remind her of what we liked. I loved looking through the recipes and seeing her comments we made, lol. Fun days when I was younger. I thought it was to humor us kids, but it wasn’t.
