Dialysis Day
Today, a normal dialysis day every Monday morning had found an unusual time of getting on and off and home today. I got on before 11:30 AM and out the door and downstairs at 2:28 AM, and my ride was here by 2:45 AM. It was an amazing day that I experience once in a great while. Today was one of those days. A good day for dialysis. I don’t get days like this too often.
Also, with that said, dialysis went through until 20 minutes before getting off. I started getting cramped in the left side where my kidneys used to be so long again before I learned of total kidney failure at age 17 when I learned that my right kidney had been gone and my left kidney was functioning only at 4% and had my creatinine at 13–in double digits. I became a kidney transplant patient in the making in October 1987 at the age 17, and it became a journey in the making that lasted 32 years before being diagnosed with kidney disease with the transplanted kidney with kidney disease for three years before having hemodialysis three times a week in April on the 24th in 2019 at Mercy Hospital. Have been dialyzing ever since May 7th of 2019, but the first 5 years was done on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays at the clinic until 2023 when the clinic moved to Sister Michael Barry building in July 2023. That was when I was finally able to get my days switched to Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. The time is not always described as desired, so when I get on early like today, it is a very big treat for me and the dialysis techs and nurses, and the doctors who make their rounds on Mondays and Tuesdays. Dr. Anjum saw me at my 10-minute left mark of treatment for the day. For today, I was gone and out of clinic, and downstairs by 2:28 PM waiting for my ride with You Buy We Fly (YBWF).
Visit With Dr. Anjum
Every Monday, except when he’s on vacation or on the 5th Monday in the month, he takes his time to see his patient in each cubicle to discuss how each patient is doing. He got to me when I had 15 left to dialyze foe the day. I was sitting in my chair #18 today after a two day stint sitting in chair #19 this week. I find this a big treat once in a while. If I repeated myself, ignore it…thanks!
Internet Woes?
For some reason the internet 🛜 has not been working that great at MercyHealth. It does not bother me, but when a game is not working at it’s potential, like loading up ads to make room for a game piece to be place, does not make me very happy, but I make it work until I get home. I just could not get online to write in my journal or get extra space or use my $50 play card until I got home. The journal can always wait, but the gaming does not always work to its full potential at the time the internet does not work within the MercyHealth hospital and clinics. It can be very frustrating at these times, but I survive.
When there is an internet connection problem at home, sometimes my babies have been the reason for the outage because of running amuck the apartment all over the place or the internet went down due to weather conditions, or they are updating something within the business. When the cats knock the internet modem or router, I am not very happy. I have to wait until my caregivers come to put everything back to working order again. I need the internet to work properly to
The Rest of My Day
Because I got done earlier than my usual time at 2:30 PM timeline, I got home, had lunch eating only one chicken nugget. For some reason, I had lost my appetite. Probably because dialysis wiped me out pretty bad the last few days. I do not know what happened this time to be honest with you. Then I went to my bedroom noticing that my tired legs took a couple of steps more before telling me I needed to sit down in my lift chair. To me, that is a couple of steps closer to my bedroom to get into bed. For the past week, I had to sit in my lift chair to gain my legs back to get across the room from chair to bed.
Tupperware Party
Very seldom do men book Tupperware parties, but at Garden Court there is one gentleman who does attend Tupperware parties. I went to Steve’s party because he came to mine and had attended other parties my friends and neighbors hosted. Yes, I did not want to go because it was on a dialysis day night and I was wiped out, but I could not do it to Steve. I could not do it to my neighbors, either because they too came to my Tupperware party. I am not that rude. Yes, they would understand I was wiped out after dialysis, but it would put me in a darker light and disappointment my neighbors. I survived the night and by 9 PM Deb had me in bed and Jackie came up after she was downstairs. Deb was up and down and left with Jackie by 10 PM after the party was over and Tina had packed everything up and left for home herself.
Good Night 👍🏻
Well, dear friend and other diarists, ir is time to say good night. I had a good day and my eyes cannot stay open anymore. In fact, I am dozing in and out now that my caregivers have cone and gone for the night.
