I had to double check my math about what happened 23 years ago today to make sure I was correct. Yes, it was 23 years ago terrorists took two planes and hit the twin towers in New York causing death and the buildings to come down. Oh, my God, Americans were killed that day with some of them had been saved during the evacuation of workers in the building. I even had friends who had relatives who worked in the twin towers who have lost their lives and my heart went out to those friends and family members. I was at a loss for words for a while because of it.
I had turned on the television and the attack on the twin towers was being televised as I saw the second plane. The first plane had already hit, and smoke and fire were around the building. I did not think of it being an attack on the United States right then. I had a very important meeting at the job center about finding work my DVR counselor I needed to get to, so I walked there in time for my appointment turning off the TV and leaving Emilee Marie Cuddles Kitty who was 11 years old at the time. Emilee died 5 years later from kidney disease.
After my appointment, I was waiting outside for my friend Lea (pronounced Lee) to pick me up to have supper at Eagle Inn on Center Avenue. There were people out in the parking lot with their radios on broadcasting about the towers being knocked down by the crashed planes. I realized it was very serous. We were being attacked and it was an act of terrorism from a country that hated our country to wreak havoc onto us, killing innocent people in the planes and the twin towers in New York City. I remember going to the Macy Parade in New York with my brother and his family, but not sure if it was before or after the towers were down now. My brother and his family lived in New York for a while before the terrorist attack, but at this time, they were living in Tunkannock (sp??), Pennsylvania and we drove to NY that day. I got to see the Thanksgiving Parade up close and personal that day and never watched the parade on TV again since seeing it for myself up close and personal because it was not the same. It was amazing! I think it was in 2001. I still had Emilee until 2006, and I had faith that she was being taken care of. Anyway, I am getting off the subject. The terrorist attack happened 23 years ago today in 2001.
When my neighbor and friend picked me up, I got in the car and her radio was on the news of the terrorist attack. I was beginning to get anxious and scared, and I could not wait until we were eating supper at Eagle Inn, so the sound of radios was temporarily silenced until we got back into the car heading back home to Burbank Plaza. I lived in 308 at that time at Burbank Plaza that was Teamster Manor at that time, I did not leave Burbank Plaza until 20 years later because of the crap some of the tenants were putting me through and what happened truly happened, and the tenant who got evicted has been saying it was not happening, but tenants on the second floor were noticing it also during the last two weeks before the eviction took place in court. The eviction process was long and hard, and this neighbor was a friend, but since I did not like her boyfriend, who was abusive, and caregiver and I heard it because the walls were very thin. She and her boyfriend began to drop heavy stuff during the day until after midnight, and that is what neighbors were hearing the last three weeks of the tenant’s stay at Garden Court. She was evicted in 2018 or 2019, and I lived there until October 1, 2020. I left Burbank Plaza with a bad taste in my mouth with a new caregiver to Garden Court. Now, Garden Court is one building that has its horror stories, too,
So, I remember that day all to well as if it just happened today not 23 years ago. I know the time is early and it did happen 23 years ago today! I have heard about the terrorist attack for a long time and now we have 9-1-1 as an anniversary or a reminder of the bad day. It was a very bad day. Every year, I am reminded of this day. I do not know if I had relatives who worked in the twin towers, but there were Christian people in this attack on America. I love 🇺🇸 because I was born in America. 🇺🇸
