Thanksgiving dinner with my dad and stepmom Sandy today. We had our Swiss steak, mashed potatoes, corn, and pumpkin pie for dessert. Jackie was here as well because I am not comfortable being with my parents alone anymore. With Jackie here, I do not feel the tension because sometimes brings up the past I find hurtful and sometimes that is uncomfortable. This visit was a bit different than normal. It was not odd, but something about the visit did seem different than the visits of long ago. Something about this visit made the other visits not so bad. I cannot explain it all, but I can say that this is a broken family where mental illness resides within the family to this day. Anyway, Thanksgiving Day dinner vibes were good—very good today.
Ken and Tanya visited today, and we watched one Extreme Makeover with Ty Pennington before they left. I love his shows!
It was a busy day with company and family. I have something I need to share later. I will tomorrow.
