Oh my goodness gracious, people are in such a darn hurry to get to wherever they are going while driving. While crossing S Main and Milwaukee St, a car driver, a woman, decided to honk at the car ahead of her, who was another woman driver. The driver in the honking, a younger woman while the driver ahead of her was an older woman. My caregiver and I were heading back to Garden Court (my home/apartment) from the public library when we witnessed the situation happen. The driver of the honking car may have wanted the car/driver ahead of her to go through a light that turned red right then. That’s what Deb thought and I agreed with her 100%. The woman driver was younger while the woman in the other car was older. I replied that young drivers are in such a hurry to get to where they are going and drive faster and that is how accidents occur in young people these days. With my disability being CP and my anxiety disorder, I could possibly get mixed up between acceleration and braking, so I chose not to learn how to drive and get my license. If I need to get somewhere, I have taken the bus or walked all over the place. Now, I do not go out unless I have someone with me and roll about on my power chair and go to medical appoints by medical rides or the city bus, and for the past two years now, my caregivers and friends and I get on the bus to go out to eat, go to the movies or shopping. The movie theater and stores we can shop at are in a little shopping area we go do and see every once on. While — eateries, too, of course, as we get hungry for every once in a while, too. Having a day like that every once in a while makes me feel independent all over again. So, what I witnessed today was one reason why I do not drive a car today. With that said, I do have to admit that I had a great day because I went to the library down the street today to find the title of a story I was looking for and the library had it! ‘Fried Green Tomatoes’! I also got a type of book that is similar to being on tape, but it’s called ’Playaway’.
Something called ‘Playaway’ & Finding the Fried Green Tomatoes: at the Whistle Stop Cafe Book!
Yesterday, while at dialysis, I called the library to enquire about a title ‘Fried Green Tomatoes: The Whistle Stop Cafe’ written by Fanny Flagg and I believe another woman that turned into the movie that aired in the movies in the 90s. I saw the movie with a good friend of mine, Cheryl Eckman, in 1991 after I got of work for the day. Found out they had a version of the title and planned to get it today at the library when Debbie and I got to the library this morning to inquire about the ‘Fried Green Tomatoes’ title, and she found the book, and another librarian went to get it for me. I enquired about book on tape or CD, and learned that they no longer had such players to rent anymore, but the librarian told us about ‘Playaway’ and the second librarian took us to the area where we could find these audio books on Playaway’. We decided to look at everything and I found a title by Stephen King called ‘The Outsider’. I decided to get that title and I am listening to it now. Hmmm, an interesting little box I can put in a pockeet in my shirt or pants?! I love it.
I also have the book ‘Fried Green Tomatoes: at the Whistle Stop Cafe’ from the library. I am LOOKING forward to reading it after listening to ‘The Outsider’ on my ‘Playaway’ system.
The Rest of the Day
I have been home and back in my bedroom since 12 noon. Debbie and Jackie had left to go to Clinton, Wisconsin to the meat market Jackie likes to go to get the best meat. She went to get me a couple of steaks. Deb will take mine home and cook them for me, and I find that very good. I, then, began watching The West Wing starring Martin Sheen as the President of the United State. Then, I decide to turn off the TV and begin listening to the story by Stephen King. Using the Playaway machine for the first time is not hard at all, and figuring it out quickly, I am impressed on this Playaway system. I love it! It’s very interesting!
I will be going to dialysis tomorrow and to Middleton to see the doctor who made my right leg brace. Time for a check up.

So this playway thing is like an mp3 player? If so, that’s a trend now, to go back to older technology!
