Although I have been doing dialysis for 6 1/2 years now, my kidney transplant was 37 years ago today. My kidney still produces urine but not enough to be off dialysis today.
When it comes to my kidney transplant anniversary now, I no longer celebrate the longevity of the kidney anymore because I am doing dialysis three times a week these days. I decided to bring my transplant kidney to light today because I am trying to finish up my evaluation to be on the kidney transplant list. I am still unsure if I want another transplant and yet, I would get away from dialysis. if is confusing and frustrating to make such an important decision as another kidney transplant when I remember what prednisone did to me from being on a higher dosage of the drug. That is where some of my anger is coming from—that medication! I hate it and still take it so I do not have any antibodies build up to make it harder to find a new kidney.
