I almost forgot how it feels to be busy. I don’t recall having my days filled up that much for quite a while. I think, I intentionally allowed myself to be exceptionally lazy during the last year, just to refill my energy tank to keep me going for the rest of my life or something. Anyway, this week I’ve been occupied with too many things to feel comfortably relaxed and in the end, as I’ve dealt with them, one by one, I felt a bit worn out. Guess, it’s all for the better in the end. A little busyness pushes our limits and forces us to reach out for something more then “always”. So I did not mind to be slightly over my busy this week. It will pay off later.
My house had a facelift. Or make up. They say – windows are the eyes of a house. The eyes of my house are now white, pvc-ed and doubleglazed all over. All 6 of them (OMG, my house is a Monster!!!). And a door. It transformed the look of the house. To the better, I hope. Well, as long as I like it, it is for the better then. I also had a lesson in basic colour scheme gradations. I’ve learned that not every white is white. You see, I always thought that the internal window frames in my house were white. But after white windows were fitted, the frames suddenly changed their colour to the “slightly unwhite” white. Or even – totally not white. And I ended up…re-painting them to match the windows...and this is not the end of it! While expressing my artistic vision of a pure white surface, it occurred to me that now the room doesn’t seem exactly in tune with the new windows anymore…gee, it was so predictable! Guess, what I’ll be shopping for this weekend? Wallpaper! Well, I only have two rooms left untouched by my redecoration's genius and I cannot do one of them, as I have a lodger living in it. That leaves me with the very small and therefore affordable energy and money wise study room. After my previous big projects of living room and master-bedroom this one should be piece of cake! And I am already looking forward to the weekend of inspiration to finally make it feel like MY place.
I also want to mention the guys who were fitting my windows. They turned out to be such an interesting people! We’ve spent all the tea breaks together, talking non-stop. They have the same passion for travels as I do and they’ve been travelling a lot. I mean – a BIG LOT. I can only dream of being able to do the same! They’ve been to almost all the exotic places I always wanted to go. And, like myself, they never use tour agencies and plan and book their trips themselves. It was fascinating to listen to their stories. Meeting likeminded people was unexpected “benefit” to their job done highly professionally.
Apart from having to juggle between the job and construction work going on around my house, I’ve managed to have few other important things done, of which I’m very pleased of course. And I’ve also got to meet a friend, as she was flying via Heathrow and this is the nearest airport to me – it’s only an hour drive away, so I went to see my friend en route. It was wonderful to catch up on things and just generally have a good couple-of-hours chat. And it didn’t matter that I’ve skipped my dance class this evening, I’m happy to be flexible for my friends, we don’t get to have that many opportunities, don't we?
