It is officially done. The room. Technically it’s been done even before New Year’s. but it was still pretty much un-liveable, as I couldn’t move the bed back in there – the floor needed a carpet. And today they announced the Carpet Day. Hooray! I’ve noticed how in normal circumstances such delay would drive me mad, but this time I’m remarkably patient almost to the point IDontCare when the carpet will be fitted and when the furniture will arrive…well, the carpet is now where it supposed to be – on the floor (???) the furniture is still on its way and I’m still so perfectly patient about it – I surprise myself! Soon there will be time when the magic of Blank Room disappeared, making space for the magic of Comfort.
I’m still thinking about sharing happiness versus shared misery…the issue is what we understand as sharing. I can share with you my great news or I can share my happy mood. Both are kind of “sharing”, but in one case we share with others something they might not need to know at all or we can smile to another and get them smile us back. I can say: hey, cheer up, I’ve got new carpet! Or I can say hey, imagine: every time I walk into my bedroom it feels like my feet stuck into the sweet paste of butterscotch fudge! Because that IS a colour of my carpet! And because it is so unbelievable warm and sweet and very…fudgy! Yammy!..mind you, I didn’t lick it but it is that kind of colour that gets your sweet teeth ache ;-)
Sharing joy doesn’t necessary means informing the world of your great achievements; it might means to take miserable person by hand and pull them up and closer to your level of perception of the World. You are not insensitive to their misfortune, you are not infringing on their personal pain, you’re not prying into their heart and soul. You’re simply letting them have a piece of your smile, just because you’ve got plenty! To make someone smile is easy – all you have to do - smile yourself.
