Why MissTick

...why the name MissTick?..

Что в имени тебе моем?
Оно умрет, как шум печальный
Волны, плеснувшей в берег дальний,
Как звук ночной в лесу глухом…

Well, that does no good for anyone here, doesn’t it? Russian verse in Russian makes no sense, unless, perhaps, it might amuse by the lines of fancy characters…This poem was the first what came into my mind when I read a comment enquiring about the name. Just because it happened to be my favourite Pushkin’s poem and because…well, just because it came into my mind at that moment…Actually, this piece of the poem says something like that:

What's in my name? It's soulless,
It shall expire, like the dismal roar
Of waves that hit the distant shore, --
Like nighttime noises in the forest!

So in a way it could’ve been a response to the why the name MissTick. So why, indeed? Technically Miss Tick is a witch - a personage of Terry Pratchett's Discworld. When I was searching for a name for my next diary incarnation, this one seemed to fit my ideas very well at that time – by the book she was supposed to explore the Universe (see the Welcome page) I used to have similar ambitions. Little I knew that the universe I will end up exploring would be – my own. My personal Universe Within. Never mind. I never stuck to definitions. They don’t allow alternatives. With time the name became amorphous and occasionally takes on different shapes under the influence of my mood. In the end of a day it is just a word spelled out, isn’t it? You can say Miss Tick, or you can say – Mystic, or you can mispronounce it into the funny Miss Tickle or Miss Tick Tock – either way will do, for it is just a frame to display the sketches off my mind.

What’s in my name for you? What good?
It will die down like waves that reach
With one last splash a distant beach,
A nightly echo in the wood.

    I like this one better
