Those Who Once Were...

This entry is way overdue, but my days have been stretched for other commitments and then some, so this is my excuse...

I wanted to muse about DD friendships...again(?!) … the thoughts came flooding when Steve allowed us to browse our old diaries in comfortable Calendar search and in one of my old entries I accidentally stumbled across the link to another's diary, dedicated to...you can easily guess it...to DD friends! And while we don't really need another proof that such friendship does exists and is very much real, I cannot help but retrieve for you something very important from the pages of the past as a lasting evidence of just how strong the bonds made here can be...I also hope this trip down memory lane would inspire you to use more opportunities to share your thoughts and daily musings here, in DD, where sharing becomes a magical thread, collective hive mind of the most diverse variety of people, use to weave the most colourful patchwork quilt of our life in modern times...

This was the last entry of the diarist Pragmatist (Chaya). Many of us, hardcore DDlanders would remember her. For me personally she became one of those special friends, who were way larger then the limitations of DD acquaintance...we never met each other in real life, yet we spent away many long nights chatting within and outside of DD, it turns out we had so much we could talk about! She started to plan her visit to my Little Island when disaster stroke and took her away from us...then, amazingly, we all came together to share our grief, to make her stay with us, and DearDiary has played a momentous part in preserving these precious memories...grab a tissue and go read the comments left on her last entry upon we learned of her passing, make sure to scroll all the way...you'll witness DD extending beyond the world of living!

Can you imagine - almost 14 years ago?!...Resurrected DearDiary has moved the times closer and brought back those who once were...Chaya has a page dedicated to DD friends. And with approaching DD anniversary it feels so fitting to bring it forward once again...to Enjoy...to Reminisce...to Remember...to be Inspired...

I recently read the comments, after our chat about opening up Chaya's diary again. It was extremely moving, wonderful and sad at the same time - even after all these years.
Can I link to this entry on the front page blurb under the "Why Join DearDiary.Net?" section please?
Sure, if you think it would help to promote DD - feel free. Lana
It's a little bit of promotion, but also highlights the importance of long term friendships that can be developed - something I never realised - really until I read all those comments a few days ago...
Actually, how would you feel about coming up with a couple of sentences about what DD means to you? I'll create a testimonials 'card' for the front page and I'll ask the other 'oldies' (lol, sorry) if they want to do one too. Then I'll link to this entry from your testimonial.
Yes, i will do that. Not tonight, perhaps, but tomorrow? Do you want it as private comment in your diary or in email?
I'll post a DD entry and you can private comment on that one if you like
Oh my i remember pragmatist so well Chaya was such a good on line friend i was devistated when she passed away i remember feeling so empty knowing she will, never post again nor anymore sweet comments
Chaya and I went to the same synagogue for several years. She was one of a kind. I remember going to her 80th birthday party. Did you know she was a pilot? She actually flew small planes in her younger years. A woman of many talents. We will always remember her with fondness.
No i didn’t know she ws a pilot that is amazing i regret never meeting her in real life she was relly nice to me i suspect she was a wonderfull person
I didn't know that either! We used to chat often, especially, in the few last years of her journaling. She used to find just the right words to say...a special gift, she had. I didn't know either that you knew her in real life! It's a small world, after all and our connections are so intricate...
I like this idea
