Hay you, Fever! And Other Medicalities
Thu Jun 14 2007

She used to be that annoying next door’s kid, who would come uninvited and poke you for a while distracting from whatever you were doing…and a slap of medication would normally deal with this little annoyance promptly. This year she came and stayed like forever…she is totally out of control...she tickles my nose with the feather, throws sand into my eyes and scratches throat playfully. Only I’m not in the mood to play. It’s not that bad when you’ve missed the first signs and had to fight the consequences until all is under control. But not to be able to be in your normal self for 3 weeks in a raw, that’s a bit too much for me. It is not getting better, no matter what I’d try. I’ve changed the medications few times, rotating all brands available in pharmacies. And it is not getting better. It is getting worse. I cannot do my job in full ability; coz concentration looses her grip under heavy medication. I cannot take my guests anywhere coz outdoor is a death zone for me. I cannot walk fast or run because it makes me cough. I cannot speak loud or laugh because it makes me cough…I now cannot sleep because I cannot breathe because none of medications work and when I’m having a cough nobody else in the house can sleep either... And so finally I surrendered. I went to the doctor’s. And it was fun. In sarcastic kind of way…But I’m now armed with new brand of pills and sprays, so hey you, Hay Fever, be afraid and be gone! Yay!

But actually, I wanted to make a note about doctors. I do trust them, don’t get me wrong. I just find it interesting that when you’re sick and go to the dr’s , they heal you, but try to get there when you are perfectly healthy – I bet you’ll leave the practice with the couple of suddenly discovered incurable illnesses. Last month I had to get to the dr’s for something like official dr’s letter that he considers me healthy enough to exercise in a gym (I also found it amusing that to improve your health you supposed to be healthy in the first place)…anyway, here I was, all fit and feeling young and strong and energetic self. And guess what happened? I had my blood sucked out. Twice!!! I had my arm clenched so tight, my eyes popped out – no wonder the blood pressure was high after that! And I had to take a course of medication for a month. A month!!! That’s three times a day thirty days – almost a hundred of chemicals a la carte. I think, it is no surprise that I’ve got sick soon after. Perhaps, my allergy is for the doctors and not hay fever after all?.. oh, and btw, the gym did let me in without dr’s letter after all – they wanted my money so badly, they only asked to sign a consent form where I won’t be complaining should I die on their treadmill…(and who, I wonder, ever complained after they died, anyway?!)

So what was this all about, again? Oh, simply I’ve been feeling so sick and miserable recently that thought it’s about time to let it out and be done with being ill…after all, being narcissistic-miss-tick I like me more when I’m laughing, and less when I’m blue…

I live with a hay fever sufferer. It's no picnic on the bad days.

Ahhh, poor Miss Tick. Such miseries. Can't think of anything worse that isn't lethal.

Well, I hope you get the upper hand on that nasty little spore or pollen, or whatever it is, and get back to your jolly self. Soon!

    Shalom

perhaps it is world wide.. at least here, it is the worst allergy season since... forever..
I use a pill morning and night, eye drops morning and night, and the occasional squirt of Nasacort (nasal spray)
All 3 prescriptions are costly.. and none (or combo of all) take care of the symptoms all the way, but they do make it somewhat better.
We have a bad air alert today and tomorrow - for too much 0zone in the air... ??
    crazy world ....
