I think, BBC done a pretty good job explaining about tomorrow. And here is a good 10 min movie about the Collider itself  for those who's interested, of course.

My personal opinion? I personally know quite a few of those who work in this experiment - I will be damn proud for them if they'll get what they want from it. Any professional work deserves admiration. Even more so when it can open new horizons for the whole mankind. I wish all the success to the scientists.
