Miracle Or Just A Mirage?
Wed Feb 23 2005

It was a snow this morning. A real real snow! Which is essentially caused a low-scale havoc on the roads with drivers going like “oh, it’s a snowflake! I’ve got to turn away from it!” (well, not really, but the snow fear of British drivers is already very well known – last year, when the snow happened in the middle of a working week, it took me 3.5 hours to drive from work to home! And considering that it’s only 17 miles, I was driving with the speed of 13 centimetres per minute! (or 4.9 miles per hour)…)

Anyway...It was absolutely gorgeous today - the trees, all dressed up in white, houses with the white puff blankets on the roofs, driveways that nobody has walked on yet. The snow was enough to cover green grass and to imitate the real winter landscape…The snowflakes were slowly swirling down to the ground in the gracious dance…and as I was driving along the street early hours of the morning, watching how the white kingdom awakes to the day, I felt happiness and contentment…and John Prine’s voice on a background made the picture look like an old black&white movie scene from the 60s…nice old Christmas-time story…(ahem...in the end of February :-/ )

I’ve arrived to the office and just didn’t want to go indoors – so beautiful it was outside! I’ve stayed a bit longer and made a little Snowman to sit by my car. He turned out to be quite cute with a big ears and a green salad leaf in one hand…

It was a snow this morning…even if nobody believes in it now, as two and a half hours later I’m looking out the window here to see grey –ish roads, few puddles here and there and bleak green bushes and grasses on the other side of a road…there is not a trace of a white miracle of this morning…and my Mr. Snowy already half-cried out into a little puddle by my car's wheel…

Perhaps a little white magic was just what you needed? I'm happy that you got to see some snow today... you seem to really like it. Which makes me wonder... would you like some of ours?

It took me 8 hours to get home one day when it snowed here. Usually a 3 hour drive. I doubt I went over 5 miles an hour the first 4 hours. It was not a pretty sight, lol.
