All the ingenious solutions are the most simple ones. I knew it all before. We all know it, actually. We just do not believe the answer can be that simple. That life is simple and the only thing that complicates her is the way we look at it. For some reason people trust only complicated solutions. If it is a cure, it has to be difficult. It has to be a struggle. And it has to have painful injections and side effects. If it is an emotional issue, I have to cry, to feel broken hearted, to grief and arrange pity-parties. If we’d be told that one pill can cure in an instant, we won’t believe it, looking for the pills to take persistently for the rest of our life. What’s the point to get cured in the end of your life, just before you die anyway?!
I think that for a while in my entries I will be pondering one thought or another, exploring one idea or a different one from the ones collected from the 3 days in company with the three the most extraordinary men I’ve ever come across in my life. It won’t be all-in-one compressed straight forward entry, sort of “report” on the seminar I've attended. It doesn’t work this way, I’m afraid. If anyone would ask me: tell me about your seminar with Richard Bandler, I won’t be able to say much. It was a process rather then a set of useful information given. But in the process a whole lot of ideas have been thrown our way. And certain ideas take time to be processed. Or rather – propagated. Not because they are new and odd. But because when the concept becomes suddenly clear and you have this Aha! moment, suddenly all you used to know as one thing begins to appear as something else. And when something changes in your perception it automatically leads to the change of other something for all things in our life entangled together so very tightly. So that when you throw a pebble at one place, the ripples spread out affecting everything else. A sensation of extending wave that covers reality with a new meaning. It is not a one-off switch. It is a fluid process.
Once you know something to the point of trusting that it is right, you begin to seek for where you can apply this knowledge. What else can I fix, how else I can do it…If I discovered the way to deal with one problem, I can try the same approach to deal with another one. And maybe in the process I’ll make few alterations to the method and thus gain new knowledge. And try to apply this one too…and so on so on…the process is unstoppable.
I used to say that not everything is everybody’s cup of tea…that if it works for one, it might not necessary work for another. But regardless of how different the architectural style, the size and shape of the houses we build, the foundation blocks are the same for every one. And sometimes when your emotional building is creeping to one side, all you have to do is demolish to the foundation block all the uncomfortable superstructure and raise a new one where you can feel safe and happy and at home.
The question of what is the foundation…a beautiful simplicity of the idea amazed me. When we are born into this world we are born happy. When a baby cries it does it only if hungry, or in pain. I never heard of depressed baby. Babies always happy. Even more - they tend to make those around them to smile, as if happy feeling rubs off from them. Then babies learn to walk, to talk and to be depressed. Everything the grown ups are, is learned on top of the basic foundation they were born with. Are you begining to get the idea?..
