I had the best bike ride yet last evening. I took bike paths all the way to Lake Phalen. 8.5 miles roundtrip in 1 hour. Very few hills, the path was in good condition. I was surprised at how quickly I got there. There were A LOT of people out walking around the lake, both on the walking path and the bike path. I had hoped to see the monument erected for Olympic gold medalist Suni Lee, but all that was there was the pedestal that held the monument. It was then I remembered someone stole it just months after it was put up. So dumb. I had to stop a few times to check which path to take, missed one turn, but all in all, a good ride. I'll go back another day to check out the garden and to watch the Hmong sport tuj lub being played, as I had passed the courts on my ride and am interested in learning what the sport is.
So now I've ridden east, west and south. Still plotting a route north. I like how Google Maps shows paved trails and bike lanes on roads.
Work was A NIGHTMARE! Finally, the procrastinators came out of their closets. Silly me, thinking they'd appear as early as Monday or Tues for a Thursday deadline. I suspect today will be as bad.
The US Senate is voting this morning on opening up the Boundary Waters to nickel mining by a foreign corporation with a poor record of polluting waters wherever they go. That this has even become something that should be considered goes beyond my comprehension. If allowed, the damage to the water, the flora, the fauna, and the land cannot be undone. Why must the wealthy destroy everything in their sight? Why???
Totally digging how the Pope is holding his ground and continuing to speak out against war. That little pimple Vance would do well to learn more about the leader of his adopted church than to send threats to the Pope.
