We've been upgraded to blizzard status now for today. 7-10" of snow by tomorrow morning and the mild 35F this morning will drop to near zero and 45mph winds by evening. Oh joy. Not. Middle asked me why I stay here if I dislike winter so much. It's where my family is, my grandchildren. I want my grandchildren to know their grandma, unlike what my kids had.
I got out for a wet walk this morning as the light drizzle was turning over to snow. I was pretty wet by the time I got home 3 miles later. I need my walks for my mental health. And I know I likely will not get a walk tomorrow as we dig out. I'm so thankful the path and sidewalks on my entire route are plowed so I can continue walking in winter.
Yesterday was better. I grocery shopped early and then went down to honey's and put together a creamy turkey mushroom soup with gnocchi for his evening meal this week. To be honest, I'm tiring of doing this every week. I do it because if I don’t, he'll only eat crap like fast food and frozen chicken nuggets and cheese sandwiches that will only exacerbate his high blood pressure and high cholesterol that he refuses to treat. He is a walking heart attack or stroke just waiting to happen. Not if, but when. So i do what I can. Even though I'm kind of resenting it. Got a walk in. Googled birdwatching events and deciding whether I should attend. (Afraid they'll reject me too.) Watched The Royal Tannenbaums - meh.
Today, I cook for me. I get turkey taco salad this week so I'll cook up the filling for that. Chop up the jicama and cabbage for slaw for lunches. Maybe tackle the 'toy' closet. Maybe write an email to my godmother. I'm still not feeling up to doing much of anything, the gloomy days and the recent emotional upset taking a toll. Just one sunny day would have a big impact on my disposition.
That's it for now. Just hate seeing snow coming down ðŸ˜

Truly agree about walking. Being outdoors, even when it's not that inviting, does something to our brain. 45 mile winds? With that kind of cold? Brrrrr! It was 25 here this morning. Frost everywhere. The ice pond has.... well.... ice! No place for the ducks today. 😒
We have mallards that remain year round, but I'm not sure about the wood ducks. Those are some beautiful birds, aren't they? I live near a wetland that a variety of birds call home each summer (including a breeding pair of trumpeter swans) and last spring I saw a mother wood duck with 12 very new ducklings close behind.
7 to 10 inches wow that is a lot of snow we have not gotten that much here in PA for quite a while and i would just as soon not get anymore hope you get less and if you are shoveling be careful
We're having a 'real' MN winter for a change, which hasn’t happened in over a decade. I'm very fortunate that I have three neighbors who take turns doing my driveway with their snowblowers, or I'd be shoveling for days!!
