Watched the Taiwanese movie 'A Sun' last night. It was excellent!
Finished listening to The Book of Lost Friends by Lisa Wingate. It was okay.
To add insult to injury, the deer came through Friday night and sheared off the heliopsis that had just started to bloom. Grrrr. (And there is a whole bunch of new baby rabbits again too.)
Saturday was spent mostly cleaning up from the storm. The scattered debris all over the place was extremely stressful to me. Clutter of any kind is extremely stressful and this was the entire outdoors a big ugly messy clutter. It was both stressful and the plant destruction was very depressing.
Honey went up on the roof and cleared out the gutters with a hose. All that grime that came out on the driveway, along with a bucketful of roofing granules from the storm, had to be cleaned up. By me. I spent time gently removing the broken foliage from everything: the pots, the raised garden, the garden beds. It was additionally heartbreaking to see all the new foliage from the spruce trees knocked off. When things dried out some, I took the blower out to get all the debris off the mulch. Put up fencing around the heliopsis, which I hate to do because chickenwire is so ugly. The hail broke the oriole feeder, so I repaired that.
Made beef stew and egg noodles for honey's meals.
Around 1pm, I talked honey into going for a bike ride. Less than a mile into the ride, he was complaining about how he could feel it in his legs already. He's always bragging about how fit he is. And yet, he can't bike a mile without complaining? I ignored him and continued on. We went about 7 miles total in an hour.
After he left, I read for awhile and then fell asleep for an hour. Unfortunately, I now associate reading with sleeping. Once I got up, I fed dog. He's been stressed since the storm, high anxiety, and hasn't been pooping consistently all week. So I took him for a long walk to get things moving again. He has also been eating a lot of fallen mulberries which has turned his poo an alarming color!
Today I need to add to my wishlist of audiobooks, because it is slim pickin's for what's available. That is the one big downside of using the library for audiobooks. I've been trying to find older best sellers to add to the list which tend to be more readily available, but that is tedious work. I also discovered eBooks Minnesota which offers free eBooks, (including James which I have been dying to read!) but I can't figure out how to search in the app. Maybe I'll spend some time trying to figure that out as well.
It is Father's Day. My dad has been dead for 20 years, died at the age of 82. He was a demanding and sometimes violent man. But of my parents, he actually liked me, so I'll give him that. The greatest gift he gave me was when we were discussing inheritance and I told him anything I received I would use to get a divorce. He didn't say anything immediately. But he called back the next day, and said "I understand." Just those two words meant everything to me, that someone was finally in my corner. Still brings tears to my eyes.

Wow. That hail! Yikes! I'm so sorry for all the damage. We rarely get thunderstorms period, and hail more than the size of a garbanzo is even more rare. I hope some of your plants recover...
