Not My Neighbor's Fact Checker.

I'm tired of being my neighbor's fact-checker.

The stuff that comes out of his mouth is astounding. Most of the time I have the knowledge to correct him, from 'massive' fraud to immigrants not paying taxes to immigration only taking the worst of the worst. And other times, what he says sounds fishy but I don't have the info at hand. Like yesterday. Last year he bought the new Toyota pickup, obviously cost mega-bucks. And he was complaining yesterday about how high the tab renewal fees were. He said the price it was based on wasn't changing and that it was the Democrat's fault because they changed how it was calculated last year. That didn't sound right to me, so I couldn't comment specifically, but I was able to counter that we used to all pay a flat fee, but it was the Republicans who changed it to a depreciation model and raised it 20 yrs ago. He brought up the fraud in MN again, I countered that there is fraud in every state, Brett Favre was even involved in a huge fraudulent scheme in Mississippi, and if neighbor really wanted to be concerned about fraud, he should be concerned about the $200 billion in tax fraud going uninvestigated because the investigators were slashed. He brought up how the workers from his wife's former employer (county agency) were going to strike which he thought was a good thing, so I reminded him that it was the Democrats who support the unions that allow them to strike, that Republicans do not. Back and forth it went. And this was my lunch break. I needed a mental break and that was no break. I finally said "well I guess my vote will cancel your vote." And went inside. I looked up the tab renewal thing, and he was wrong. Of course.

I wish I knew where he gets his information. His algorithm is probably feeding him what he wants to believe and he has no intention of seeking out answers and doing the hard work for truth. It is presented as believable so it must be true. I actually read the MN statutes on vehicle licensing to get my information. It's this simplistic thinking that has taken over so many people, the failure to even look further and dig deeper to see if something is true. They just take it at face value.

He keeps saying he's gotta move. I don't dissuade him. I just respond that he should do what he needs to do.

Ugh. I need a fence.

I had a nice conversation with the other neighbor across the street who I know also leans to the right, but none of the political shit. We talk birds and nature and dogs and walks. Not exhausting.

It is dark and drizzly this morning and I am damp from my walk. I don't know if honey is coming tonight because the rain may turn to freezing rain. Work continues to be busy.

This is why I do not get into a discussion about the Republicans and Democrats anymore. I feel both parties are both playing for power than working together. Power plays turn INTO greed and power playing one another. Everyone is entitled to their beliefs and way of growing up. I Believe George. Washington wanted both sides to work together because he was that kind of person as well as first President of the United States from 1789-1797. I had to a double and triple look at the years because for some reason the years were not looking right to me as if the 1789, 1797 numbers were showing 1797-1789, and I know that 89 is than 97. This is what happens when no sleep occurs in my world.

It's a battle between me thinking and we thinking. Most politicians are me thinkers, what's in it for me. The we thinkers don't run for office, they're on the ground putting in the real work.
