Mon Mar 16 2026 - And the Rest of the Day.
And the Rest of the Day.

Ended up with close to a foot of snow. I went out late in the day to shovel the sidewalk and dig out the mailbox before the pile left behind by the plow froze solid, since it is now 3F this morning. Wasn't it just 60F a week ago? Why yes, yes it was. I hate March.

I was surprised that school was canceled this morning. I checked the road conditions and around honey's house the roads are still "travel not advised" so I doubt he went to work this morning.

I texted the kids about vacation. Daughter wanted to do it the first week of September when they didn't have daycare, but that's too chilly up north. She was already planning a trip to Door Country anyway which is way expensive and too crowded for me. Son said he'd think about it more. It's okay if they don't go, just thought I'd offer. I thought that my subsidizing the cost might help, but I realize now it is more about arranging vacation days around daycare. Daughter does do stuff (vacations) with her inlaws yearly, and I get it that the kids have cousins to play with on that side of the family. But I get jealous and hurt all the same that I can't get the same amount of time every so often. [Just be happy with what I can get. Just be happy with what I can get.] I won't be the Granny I had hoped I would be.

I did not want to put on my walking boots this morning ๐Ÿ˜ซ I've worn them 2 years and they make my foot hurt now. But no choice, it's too cold. The lake path wasn't plowed and the sidewalk along the busy road wasn't plowed so I had to walk in the street. Fortunately traffic was light because school is closed.

Dinner this week is one chicken drumstick and fresh asparagus on the side. I browned the skinless chicken and then simmered it in Subway's Sweet Onion Teriyaki sauce to finish cooking it. OMG so delicious! โ€‹And the asparagus! I usually only eat it from my garden at honey's in late spring, but it was pretty cheap at the grocery store so I bought some. That is one vegetable I love! I was never served it as a child, and as an adult thought it would taste like Brussels sprouts (gross, yuck!). It wasn't until I was in my 40s that I reluctantly ate some a friend prepared and I was hooked ever since!

Don't want to work today (ever).
