Great Debater

So this is the thing that really bugs me about honey...while he is super intelligent and does know a lot of everything, he punts on other things he doesn't know about, talking like he knows what he's talking about, and gets away with it because he is so good at talking on the spur of the moment--he is a great debater. He was telling me about a discussion with his work buddies about barbeque. I know he doesn't like sloppy wet barbeque sauce on things, it needs to be caramelized on the piece of meat. But he said he told the guys he doesn't like sauce, he prefers a dry rub.

Now, this would be fine if he'd ever had his meat grilled that way, (or had even actually grilled something himself. He's never grilled food. Ever. He's only watched.) But I have never made it with a dry rub. So I wanted to learn more. 'Oh, you like a dry rub?' I say. 'What is a dry rub?' And he tells me. 'And what kind of spices do you like in your dry rub?' I ask. (Because hey, if you like a good dry rub, let me know and I'll put it on the chicken I'm grilling tomorrow.) But then he got annoyed, because I was pressuring him on something he was pretending to know, but knew nothing about. And in his typical fashion, he threw it back at me and made some snide comment that I can't remember now, something about my knowing how to cook and not knowing how the electronics of a stove worked (but I cant remember exactly now, because that's his typical kind of response which I don’t acknowledge). He was feeling defensive because I was pointing out that he didn't know what he was talking about. Only, he comes out as the winner of that debate because he can think on the fly and wiggle his way out of stuff and I cannot. It bugs me so much when he pretends to know about stuff like sporting events he never watched or movies he's never seen and he gets away with it. You have no idea how much it bothers me, because I view it as lying. And he says it is small talk. Our great, never-ending debate. Lying or small talk.

And, as I write this at 10:30am, he has been sound asleep after getting up at 6:30, grocery shopping, and down for a nap at 9:30. Enough is enough. I'm done tiptoeing around this very obvious health issue.

My eczema steroid ointment that I put on the rash yesterday worked wonders at calming the inflammation from the aloe incident. I picked up the antifungal from the pharmacy after work (after realizing the text notifications had been going to my text spam folder) and used it last night. Today things are looking better. Ugh, what a day.
