Good and Bad

The good news is I got honey signed up for Medicare. And helped him fill out his pension application. And ordered new checks for him.

The bad news? I really think his body is fighting something serious, probably cancer. He is so run down and tired all the time. He's grumpy all the time. He clears his voice all the time. The lump/lymph node on his neck seems to be much larger. And he won't get it checked. I scan his neck for more lumps without being obvious. I can't tell. What I really want to do is run my fingertips along the lymph system and search for more lumps. I just don't understand why he doesn't want to treat it now rather than letting it get so much worse and/or spread. I'd rather he go in and find out it is nothing. But he won't. Because he doesn't think a lymph node that's been swollen to the size of quarter for SEVERAL YEARS is something to be concerned about. I just have to watch and worry helplessly. Sometimes I feel like he knows something about his healrh that he's not telling me. And he has this juvenile belief that he can just wish things away.

We watched Remarkably Bright Creatures on Netflix Friday night. It was a nice movie.

Saturday we bought and installed a rear view mirror for my bike and a rear cargo rack for his bike. We hung the spinner thingy from the arch. I bought and planted celery and green pepper 6-packs. I've never grown celery before, but at $2.49/6pk it's not like I lose big if it dies. Mowed the lawn. Weeded. Blew the dust out of the garage with the leaf blower. Sprayed deer/rabbit repellent. Grilled chicken for fajitas for honey.

The good news is, there was seeded watermelon in the grocery. My favorite fruit season has begun!

We were sitting in the backyard and there is this back corner that has so much potential. 'I picture a small shed, like a gardeners shed. Or that cast iron table and chairs could go there," I suggested to honey and then asked what he envisioned. 'A car tent for the bus.' Apparently the Volkswagen bus he was going to give back to his stepson is now coming up here. Do I really want to look out the window every day and see a tent with a vw bus in it? No, I do not. He did not want to discuss it. He doesn't ever drive the bus, it has sat in the pole barn up on blocks so the mice can't get in for over 10 years! Throughout those 10 years I've suggested he take it down and out for cruise nights in the summer. Nothing. It just sits there. He tries to blame me for this lack of driving it because I say it is loud and stinky. But that's not fair. I've said I'll do cruise nights. I will not go on a long road trip in it though. That's two different circumstances. I can't believe he's going to drag it up here to let it sit on blocks in a tent. What's the point of keeping it if you don't drive it??? He's already read up on the city ordinances regarding parking vehicles. I just can't believe we're back to this! He and his clinging to stuff he never uses or looks at. And that's more bad news.

He went home yesterday, even though it is a 3-day weekend and today is supposed to be lovely. Im not sure how to interpret that either.

Started watching the movie True Romance last night. Honey had said on Friday that he'd seen it and it was really good. What he didn't tell me was it is a Quentin Tarantino movie. I haven't seen a Tarantino movie yet that I liked, and I stay clear of them. When the senseless violent scenes happened, I thought it was very Tarantino-like, paused it and googled the movie and that's when I discovered it was indeed Tarantino. I turned it off, gave it a thumbs down, and watched The Road Within, which was really good and much more my style.

Not sure what I'll do today. It's supposed to be low 80s and the entire week we'll be under a heat dome. Yay!

Friendliness is contagious. I think everyone should catch it.
