Heard multiple shots fired this morning at 7am south of here. I have the police scanner on, and after an hour since it was reported, I didn't learn much. Possibly a drive-by, shooting at each other from their cars. Lots of bullets flying though. What an unnerving way to start the day. I seem to have been experiencing too many of these unnerving mornings already in this new year. I do hope it is not an indicator for the rest of the year.
Yesterday honey and I took the bus downtown to the dog show. And I have to say, what a great way to get downtown. Saved us $20 in event parking, and buses run every 20 minutes so it's not like we had to wait long. $2 roundtrip, 2 blocks walk from my house and 4 blocks to the event, which is very doable. Anyway, we arrived late morning and saw several larger breeds being judged. I thought it was strange that I wasn't seeing any toy or terriers though. By the time we figured out that the smaller breeds were upstairs, it was too late, judging was long over. But I did get to see the standard schnauzers judging and honey was very impressed that I picked the winner lol! I still really miss my miniature schnauzer, even after 7 years. This dog I have now is so neurotic that I don't like him very much (although I like him better now that he's on prozac). I had to point out how nice it was to be around calm, well-behaved dogs for a change, instead of the clingy, scared, anxious, overwhelming dog I live with now.
Speaking of dog, he's behaving even stranger than usual. Didn't even want the neighbor to pet him, which is incredibly unusual. Not sure what is going on. But I'm also not going to run him to the vet for acting strangely, because he goes like this in waves. After this dog is gone, I don't think I'll get another dog, or maybe not another rescue dog, that's for sure. Or maybe a robot pet, like a Moflin 🤣
Not going to honey's today because freezing rain is expected at noon, so not sure what I'll do today. Probably continue reading Pachinko, it is due in 5 days and I am 70% done, eek!
Looking forward to getting back into my regular routine, without all the holiday disruptions.

Oh, I would love to go to a dog show! I've only ever seen them on television. One year, when I still had my Sheltie Robbie, a Sheltie won best of show. We were all so happy. The whole house celebrated.
