Back to the 90s

Took a short 6mi bike ride last evening around Como. It was chilly (70) and windy (going up that hill against the strong wind--oooph!) so I wore sweatpants and sweatshirt, but the sun was out at least. I was REALLY annoyed to discover coming home that the landscaper had blown all the dirt and gravel off their driveway AND INTO THE BIKE LANE! I actually yelled about it at some guys out there this morning, to clean up the bike lane. Geez.

Why has everything turned out to be about pushing problems on to the next person, instead of taking responsibility and considering how your actions will affect others and finishing the job? Completely. Why blow the dirt in the street for others to deal with instead of into your weedy grass and problem solved??

Anyway.

I love it now when I take dog out at 10pm, it is still not completely dark out. I love these incredibly long days.

Honey and I will go to Sierra tonight to get him a bike helmet. I suggested bringing our bikes on vacation because he's suffering from plantar fasciitis. With bikes we could get around Madeline Island easier (and cheaper than taking the car on the ferry). But he doesn't sound very keen on it. I fear he will be a real drag on the vacation because his feet will hurt and he won't want to walk or hike. Just putzing around in the car instead. Which I do not want to do.

Well, one work mystery was solved by IT and I was wrong. Partly. I am still missing emails. I also stopped a fraud attempt yesterday. It started with a phone call I took which led to two other departments being included. When all the info was put together we realized it was the same people asking for the same products, same quantities, but with different company names. While I was reading the emails and putting two and two together, the fraudster called again, this time 'pressuring' me to get them a quote ASAP and provide a delivery date. I very firmly told her we would not be participating. She wanted to know why not. I repeated we could neither provide a delivery date or meet their delivery deadline. We chose not to participate.

I wish we could go back to the 90s, when the web was about information and AI fakes didn't exist. When we didn't have to be on high alert on every email or phone call we received. When we visited a website and didn't have to worry about it being fake or AI slop. When the music on the radio was good. And there was a station for everyone, not just the same two genres on every station.

I just want to disconnect from it all. But how do I when my employer puts all my personal info on the cloud and my government has as well?

But I love eBooks and digital audiobooks. And not having to go to the library to find a book on how to do something. Everything else is slop.

Is anyone surprised the Iran 'deal' is off? Yet another big L for the Assahollah.
