Took dog for an hour walk yesterday, and timed it well because it started to sprinkle a few minutes after I got home. (Picked up a lot of litter too, unfortunately.) Anyway, I saw this snapping turtle on the walk. They're such prehistoric looking creatures.

And I saw this beautiful rose! I've never seen one with blueish leaves. A google lens search calls it a red-leafed rose, Rosa Glauca. I can't find any place that sells one, but i'd sure like to have one! (Will read up on propagating roses...)

It sprinkled on and off all day until about 7, and then we got real rain that continued past bedtime. 1.25" in the gauge this morning. I am glad for the rain, because both rain barrels were empty and I don’t like to pay for water to water my flowers when it falls from the sky for free. So now I have 80 gallons!

Discovered I marked the wrong areas where I planted the glads and canna, as they are coming up where I've been walking and not where I marked. I'm so dumb.

Because it was such a dreary day, I did inside things. Printed out our tax returns and filed them in the safe (because honey is all about having paper). Replaced the toner cartridges in the printer that the printer has been telling me FOR TWO YEARS are 'extremely low' and boxed up the empties to drop off for recycling. Prepped fruit & veggies for lunches, made an appt for an annual checkup. Vacuumed. Boring stuff. Boring day.

Dinner this week is egg/canadian bacon/smoked cheddar on toast. I scrambled the eggs and baked them in a 8x8 pan and then cut them into sandwich size portions. Reheats well and is quick to put together after work.

And this: At the MN GOP convention yesterday, they endorsed a candidate who chose a running mate that took state govt money for a building project and then didn't pay the contractors, even when he lost in court (white fraud doesn’t count), AND they held a moment of silence for Derek Chauvin, the convicted murderer currently serving time for the murder of George Floyd. If that right there doesn't tell you all you need to know about the Republican party, I don’t know what does. Disgusting.
