Getting it Out

Turned the AC on at 7pm when the inside temp hit 82F. I was fine with that temp just sitting around, but I know I wouldn't have slept well. And I slept pretty well as a result.

Yesterday during work I spoke out loud to no one in particular (because I CAN speak my thoughts out loud, heck I can yell my thoughts if I want to. And I do, because it is just me and dog and no one else) "Why do I have to solve your problems?" It just seems like people have stopped using their brains and have to have it all explained to them with pictures. Two people in my department insisted there was nowhere to upload anything on a particular website. Two people tried. I logged in, went to the applicable area, clicked on the more info button, boom! There it is. Why did I have to drop everything and do this for you? It was not my problem to solve. Could you not use your brain and some curiosity and figure it out like I did? Sigh. And these are 30yr olds. Aren't they supposed to be more technologically advanced than 60yr olds???

Then later in the day I had to explain how a contract worked...to my manager and another manager. I'm not even in the bids and contracts dept and you're managing the dept and I have to explain it to you? Not my problem to solve, but I did it anyway. Sigh. You're going to miss me when I'm gone.

I just feel like people have stopped thinking and rely on other stuff/technology/people to do the thinking for them instead. Heaven forbid common sense be used. Or you actually do some reading up on the issue. AI and social media has already taken over some people's lives with its misinformation and algorithms aimed at lying to you and providing only partial information. I don't know. The dumbing down of society.

I was really disheartened to learn of the resignation/investigation of the Minneapolis police chief. He was an outsider who was especially needed after George Floyd. He seemed to bring respect back to the department. That he aligned himself with the people he served, not the dept. But now we learn he was no better than those before him. I naively believe people will do the right thing, and am ALWAYS disappointed. You'd think I'd learned by now. But I continue to be disappointed.

"Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely."

Honey had a leaky pipe in the basement and it soaked an area of carpet. So he shut off the water, fixed it, and when he turned the water back on, he lost all the water pressure. So now he doesn't know if it is the well pump, or the water softener, or the iron thingy that's causing the problem. So he was pissy at me instead. Because he knows how I feel about that house and everytime something goes wrong with it, he gets defensive even when I don’t say anything about it. Like he hears me saying 'I told you so' even when I say nothing or try to offer support. I suggested calling in the pros (and then they can take care of the iron bacteria problem too, which I didn't say) but he ignored me. Whatever. That's his money pit, not mine.

I have been eating Dr Praeger's California burgers this week. I do not like them. At all. No amount of ketchup and mayo and onions and lettuce and bread can cover up the taste of them. I'll stick to their All American burger going forward.

Did 3 loads of laundry yesterday AND put it away. And not during work, only before and after and on my break. Have I washed the last load of fleece and gloves for the season? I sure hope so, because I have put them away. I pulled out the summer tshirts (wow! I have a lot of tshirts!), put some of those in a donate pile, hung the rest in the closet in the order of nice casual, exercise, and political (for those days when I need an Obama hug when I put my Obama tshirt on or I'm especially upset about the state of the democracy and want to spread the word, like today), and put most of the long sleeves, thermals, flannels, and heavier weight sweatshirts into the storage cube and on the closet shelf.

And I just heard about a federal court ruling on the executive order on absentee voting and the post office. It had to be a maga judge. The Assahollah does not get to single-handedly run elections. I sure hope this is appealable or this nation is sunk.
