Watched the Moulin Rouge movie last night for the first time. I didn't know anything about it, and I'm not a fan of modern musicals typically, and I'm not a Nicole Kidman fan, but wow! Loved it!!
Earlier yesterday, I figured out how to copy my diary from Open Diary to a Word doc using a web scraper. I didn't even know what a web scraper was before yesterday. I tried three scraper browser extensions before I found one that was easy to understand. There aren't many people left at OD, having moved to Prosebox, but i posted a how-to just the same. Some people spent weeks copying and pasting each entry to save their entries, and with this web scraper I did one year/360 entries in 15 minutes!
So why didn't I go to Prosebox also? Because I wanted to stay away from the whole 'Friend' network. I don’t do social media, no Facebook or Insta or X, etc. I don’t believe in forming a clique of people and excluding others. On OD there was a whole group of people who only operated in their friend group exclusively but felt entitled to leave notes on non-friend entries without ever inviting new people to the group. They'd also leave mean notes and then delete them, so others couldn't see what type of person they really are. Nope. Not going to do that again. I didn't want to move to the same environment with the same people. I just want a place to write without all the exclusion and drama. My entire adult life I've been excluded, the difference now being I don’t want to be accepted anymore and I don’t feel excluded anymore.
It's like the conversation I had with honey yesterday about the EEOC soliciting white men to file discrimination claims. Why do we need castes? Castes by skin color. Castes by gender. Castes by religion. Castes by immigration status. Why can't we just all be at the same level? No one better or worse than others? Why is there always a group that needs to be/feel superior? Maybe it is easier for me to think this way as one who has never been in with the in group. I simply don't ’t like people based on their bad personalities, it never has anything to do with their caste in life.
