Okay, back to writing about the mundane of life...until the next mind-exploding event occurs. Not that I've let it go and have moved on, because while I was 50 miles south yesterday, ICE was in my neighborhood (and all over the city), violently ripping people out of their cars at gas stations and thrift stores, leaving cars with keys in the ignition behind. Rather, I've written enough to get the worst of it out of my head. I am still very very deeply troubled.
Saturday night I watched the movie Sinners on Amazon prime. I was hesitant to watch it because the preview made it seem like it was going to be one of those artsy, dreamlike boring movies. The preview did not do it justice. It was an excellent movie!! Loved it!
Earlier in the day Saturday, honey and I went to the conservatory at the free zoo. It was a cold (20F) and windy day, so stepping into the humid tropical room was wonderful! Poor man's sauna, I told honey. I wish it was open in the evenings, I'd go every night just to sit in the humidity. While there, I ran into a young mother and child who I've met through walking in the mornings. She is so nice, and so friendly. She gave me a hug when I saw her there. (Silently, I wonder why she is being so nice to me. Typically no one likes me.) I was able to introduce her to honey so he could put a face on the name I've been talking of. So weird in a city of thousands where I know only a handful of people and I run into someone I know! Anyway, after the conservatory we drove over to see the timber wolves at the far end of the zoo and then I drove honey around the entire park, by the soccer fields and the lake and the pavillion and the swimming pool and the golf course. What a gem in the city! 450 acres total.
Sunday I went to honey's and made him scalloped potatoes with smoked turkey, frozen from Thanksgiving, for his dinner this week. I'm having leftover pork and gravy on toast for my dinners. Trying to clear the freezer of leftovers.
Listened to the livestream of the UU service on my drive. Not surprising, it was a very somber service. At the end, one man let out a primal scream of anguish. I don't know if it was planned or spontaneous, but he yelled for everyone. It was comforting in a way.
Sent honey links to some teak cooking utensils I'd like that he can get me for my birthday (since he asked). Trying to get rid of the black plastic utensils, although it's probably far too late to make a difference for me. Ordered a 2026 calendar because I didn't get any free ones in the mail.
The work week will be easier, I hope, with the return of my honeymooning colleague.

Bless you for sharing about ICE and I do enjoy reading your diary.
That conservatory sounds wonderful. I have never been to one. It's the perfect place to go in winter!!!
