Birthday Eve

Honey's 65th birthday is tomorrow. His birthday is the one time I will buy/make him food that is not good for him. So I treated him out to our favorite greasy spoon last night where he had a bacon cheeseburger and their amazing hashbrowns. (I had 2 eggs and 3 strips of bacon.) He had arrived at my house in a pair of light gray shorts that had big dirty stains on the butt along with paint and other stains. "Are those your 'good' shorts?" I asked. (Meaning the cleanest pair he owns.) Yes. So after dinner we went to Kohls and got him three new pair of shorts so he doesn't look like he just got off the job when we go out and go on vacation. Afterward, we sat outside listening to the nighthawks.

Today after grocery shopping, I made him birthday brownies and his favorite slop for his dinners this week. I don't know what else to call it! It is an entire package of egg noodles, 2 cans of cream of mushroom soup (undiluted) and 2 cans of chicken. It is pretty disgusting, and makes a really gross sound when I stir it, but he loves it, so I only make it for his birthday every year. For gifts, I gave him Carhartt bibs and a Carhartt fleece zippered hoodie, the two staples of his wardrobe that always need to be replaced.

But. He got up at 8am, we grocery shopped and then he lay outside 'resting' on the patio furniture. After I got done making the slop, I sort of woke him up, and we went to big box hardware. And now he is laying down in the bedroom. It had only been 4 hours since he got up and he's had 2 naps. I should be concerned about this and actually talk about it with him, right? Right? Or do I keep ignoring it because his health is his responsibility? Ugh.

I saw this little fellow swimming in the wetland near the swans on Friday, fresh greens in his mouth. I'm thinking it is a muskrat, but not certain.

Wow he is a lucky guy having you take such good care of him and by the way that slop sounds good to me 😂
