Taxes

I think I've lost my cooking skills.

Well, probably not. I'm just going too far with substitutions to reduce calories so I end up with slop. At least the slop this week doesn't make me gag like 2 weeks ago haha! The core recipe was turkey divan, but i only had ground pork, which has A LOT of calories! So I cut the meat in half. I wanted noodles instead of rice because white rice offers no nutritional value, so i got chickpea macaroni and added a cup of those to the slop. I discovered Campbells make GF cream of chicken soup instead of that funky tasting Pacific brand, so I added that. An entire bag of frozen broccoli/cauliflower mix. Mushrooms. Soy milk. 1 cup shredded swiss. Mix and bake. 300 calories per serving of slop, it started at 450 calories. Topped it with nutritional yeast. I miss the good ole days when I could eat any and everything without worry or sickness.

Did not walk Sunday for two reasons: 1) I had pain lower left 2) the wind! It is just nasty!!! The temp was in the teens so it was a frigid windchill and I have had enough of winter. I stayed inside instead and did my taxes. 2 hours later I was done. It makes me upset that I sit and stress about doing it correctly, afraid I made a mistake or answered a question incorrectly and the feds will come after me. Me, who makes $55K/yr. When the weathy intentionally cheat on their taxes and get away with it constantly. And every year I chide myself for worrying about it.

I was going to do honey's taxes too, but I had to get the code for the tax webite that was texted to his phone and so I called him, told him what was going to happen and to tell me the code. By the time he figured out how to look at his texts and be on the phone at the same time, it had expired. So we tried it again, I entered the number he gave me, even repeated it out loud...and it was wrong. He had given me the number the message came from, not the code. Sigh. It wouldn't let me try a third time. He is soooo frustrating. He's been around phones and computers as long as i have been, but he doesn't know how to use them. Which is super surprising given he is a fix-it guy who knows how everything works. But cell phones and computers that he uses every day, he has no idea what to do but the bare minimum. I've lost count of the number of times he just shuts his laptop frustrated because 'the wifi is down' when in reality he doesn't know how to reconnect to the wifi. And doing two things at once on his phone? Forget about it!

But at least my taxes are done. Even with a larger contribution to my IRA, and paying all the property tax myself this year and deducting OT pay, and my itemizing was larger than last year's, my refund is smaller than last year. Where is this tax cut the big ugly bill was supposed to bring hmmm? Oh yeah, I forget i work so I can make the rich richer. No tax breaks for peasants.

It occurred to me that I am going to have a slow day at work today because of the blizzard that is hitting the Northeast so the major school districts are closed again after having last week off.

It appears the pesence of thugs has been reduced, not as much action as previous weekends. I find it curious that no one picked up on the demented one's rant on Friday of his mention of the political movement in this country.

He said the Supreme Court is "swayed by foreign interests and a political movement that is far smaller than people would ever think." "These people are obnoxious, ignorant and loud," Mr. Trump said, without identifying the purported movement. "They're very loud, and I think certain justices are afraid of that. They don't want to do the right thing. They're afraid of it."

I think he is very afraid of how grassroots public sentiment is turning against him since what happened in Minnesota, the same public that used to support him.

Went to Sierra yesterday and got a flat band kit to do some arm and leg strengthening while watching TV. Also bought a clearance shirt, dental bones for dog, and two flavors of roasted chickpeas.

Brisk walk this morning at 1F. I had switched to sneakers after the ice melted a week ago, but mesh uppers aren't very practical when walking at 1F. My toes got kinda cold! I hate wearing the boots though. I really need a pair of leather transition sneakers for when it is cold but not snowy/icy.

Walking in the wind is AWFUL! There's something so alarming about it even if you are walking in an open field!

Agree! Winter or summer, if there is a strong wind it just makes the walk very miserable.
