So happy that the smoke started clearing out late in the evening. We set a record for air particulates--not a record to be celebrated.
On the way to the dentist I stopped at Target and got an air purifier and some Three Wishes cereal since it was buy one get one 50% off. Went to the dentist for that bonding so my teeth won't chip more (or worse, crack). (But now I can't bite my fingernails either because my bite is a bit off. I guess that's a 'good' thing as I sit here trying to bite my fingernail..) Then I went on to honey's. He was actually home because they had started work at 6am to avoid the worst of the heat. So I sat down with him and went through all his Medicare paperwork, sorting it into recycling, to shred, to file, and to address immediately. (I have to say I was very surprised that the govt would send out mail with the full SSN showing on the paperwork.) Then we loaded my wagon, a bag of clothes to donate, and the file/shred paperwork and I went home.
Since the air quality was still absolutely awful when i got home, I stayed indoors and worked on the paperwork. Went through the files in the safe, discarding old/unnecessary stuff and filing into new Medicare files I created. I'm not quite done, and will finish it today.
After dinner I went over to daughter's to give E his bday present. At 7yrs old, he is becoming more 'cool' so the excitement he expressed in the past at the sight of a gift was no longer there. He continued working on his Legos and mumbled answers to questions I asked. (But by the time I left, he was his usual sweet self and gave me a hug goodbye.) He was excited about the drone but it took a long time for the battery to charge. Since the smoke was bad, he tried it out in the house and crashed it right away and one propeller fell off. I tried it once and A swatted it away and one propellor broke. So we all decided it would be best to do it outside when the air cleared. Grandson and I played a round of Sorry! and he won.
I don't say anything, but it does bother me that they do not sit down and eat as a family. It seems very chaotic and piecemeal, like a restaurant. I made dinner every night and we ate together and we ate the same meal. There, it is the parents eat one thing, the son eats something else, the daughter something else. But it is not for me to criticize out loud. I am very much a routine and order person, so the chaos wouldn't work for me. It is what it is.
It is so weird to see trees fallen when there has been no storm or wind, but that's what I encountered this morning on my walk. Two very large trees down that I had to crawl over:

Both rain barrels are empty now. We need rain!
Friendliness is contagious. I think everyone should catch it.

Glad your smoke is clearing!
Me too! For once, northwest winds coming from Canada are a good thing 😂
Yay, I’m glad
