Sat Apr 04 2026 - Stevia?
Stevia?

We had some thunder rumbles Friday evening, the first of the season, and some good, cleansing, downpours. Full inch of rain! That will be good for the plants and trees. Now if only we could get some decent temps so I can ride my bike!

Work was boring as expected. I did follow-ups all day on expired quotes. Ho-hum. Honey and I went out for our Friday night tacos--they gave us a free taco!--and then hit the grocery store afterwards since we have the gathering today. I bought a bag of Catalina Crunch and once home, sampled it only to discover it is sweetened with Stevia. I kind of came to the conclusion yesterday afternoon that it is Stevia that is affecting my metabolism, because in my attempt to get more liquids in my life, to avert another d-itis episode, I added a hella-lot of stevia-sweetened drinks to lessen the calorie count. Because I can't stand plain water. And my weight gain has been since all these products were introduced. So I am eliminating them. And will try to come up with an alternative, probably go back to seltzer water. There really isn't any unsweetened alternatives except Kool-aid andTrueLemon, and I worry about TrueLemon's acidic affect on my teeth.

Anyway, got the ham sliced up and the sausage browned last night and now all I have to do is heat it up in the oven before we go.

Those sweeteners can be awful, so do be careful. I hear you. Hang in there in the meantime and I hope you can find a drink that has natural sugar in it for yourself. Best of luck!

I've always avoided artificial sweeteners and thought Stevia would be safer because it is plant-based rather than chemical-based, but now I'm not so sure. I'm definitely going to reduce how much I ingest though.

Good!iprefer the natural anyway.
