today is her birthday,
they're smoking cigars,
he's got a chain of flowers
and sews a bird in her knickers...

the man is 57. i remember when he turned 36. that was the year i'd get to see him for the first time in concert. i caught 2 shows for the Serious Moonlight tour. i was only 17...no man could look better wearing suspenders AND a belt, that shock of yellow/blonde hair. the big fat halfmoon with little mylar moon balloons in it, space oddity he was and still is. happy Birthday Mr. David Robert Jones.

went for a run yesterday evening. do i have to say it was freakin' cold? had a good run though. only saw 2 other runners out there.

1. you burn more fat running in the cold
2. you'll be in damned good shape as opposed to the hibernating spring runners.

surprisingly, i wasn't too cold. i dress in layers and i try to wear anything cotton as an outside layer. i have 2 shirts (a tank and short sleeve) that move the sweat away from my skin. those are my core shirts. i wear tights (cut the feet off)under my leggings. wore 2 pair of thin socks, gloves and a hat. if my feet and hands are warm, i'm set. i could have run 5 miles yesterday, but i ran a few errands after work, so that by the time i got home, it was almost dark out.

~~~
i'm a little nervous, but i think if i don't aim too high, to just finish the race, i'll be fine. initially, i wanted to be able to finish a marathon in under 4 hours. everything i'm reading is saying i should be happy with just finishing...
more later...gotta go.
Your goal is your goal. Of course you should be happy with finishing. But if you'd be happier with running it under 4 hours, then it's certainly something worth aiming for!
Hey...I'm setting high goals for myself, taking 1st place at my first contest. You just gotta shot high sometimes
