-fred, wilma, betty, barney and a huge dinosaur

-a chinese dragon and asian dancers

-philly flyers wearing orange and black wigs and carrying hockey sticks

-the fbi and giant green bug (the one found in the mayor's office)

-a unicycle riding santa

-4 huge butterflies

-one huge peacock that fanned his feathers out (beautiful!)

-a gorrilla pulling a float of wild african animals

-a jack russell wearing a santa hat

-a few hundred thousand spectators, boozing and dancing, laughing and smiling

-tons of kids with funny hats and balloons

-and one lucky friend (check out my welcome page)that ,hopefully, is a sign of things to come for me this new year of 2004. he was a great sport and posed for me. perfecto!

i spent from about 9 - 2 pm at the parade and called it quits. headed for the detoured bus route and chatted with an older gentleman who turns out was from ny, catskill area. i caught the string band competition and the fancy brigade on the tube. i would have never been able to see them since they faced bleachers that were reserved for specific groups or folks that bought tickets.

by the time i got home, my back was killing me, my feet were killing me, i never did go for that long run (i did today though). i could have spent yesterday feeling sorry for myself spending the holidays alone without family and friends... instead, got my butt up early, boarded the 8:00 am bus and headed towards hilarious chaos and mayhem. and it was freakin' fun! next year i'll go much later and buy a ticket for reserved seating. ;-)

today, as i said, i went for a 5+ miler. hit the pharmacy and carried a gallon of water and cat litter home (the weight training portion of my workout!). you can't ask for better weather in january. even the end of dec was pretty mild.
