Thu Nov 20 2003 - the goal
the goal
here is to finish the race. i'm not shooting for superstardom...you can be sure i won't finish in less than 30 minutes. but that's fine with me. it's a character building experience. let me get a few of these mini races under my belt and then i shoot for "MARATHON". it has been a goal of mine for a few years now...i want to run a marathon when i turn 40.

i'm not that far off. and i want to be in kick-butt shape. being a slacker really isn't in my nature.

the nasty weather yesterday afternoon killed any chances to get a run in. it wouldn't be prudent to run during a tornado watch...by the time i got home, my pants from the knees down were soaked. horizontal rain does this. i laughed the whole way home. i have to admit that when i see some poor soul's umbrella do a wind-inside out, i can't seem to silence my laughter. it's too slapstick to not laugh. and the bewildered face of the umbrella's owner is priceless.

it's funny when it happens to me too. ;-)

plenty of trainwrecks in the news: michael jackson, scott peterson, the snipers, bombs in iraq-turkey-you name it..., paris hilton, britney spear-me, kobe bryant and the list goes on...

makes me thankful that i am:
working class poor
unpopular and unknown
able to use the god-given common sense i have.
wary of organized religion

either the planet needs a huge kick-ass party where everyone puts the guns away and break out their best soul train moves OR a few nuclear bombs to level things out and start all over again...

how such simple chains of protein can fuck so much up is amazing.

Just curious... was that a big-ass party, or a big ass-party?

; )

I wouldn't blame it on the simple protein chains. It has more to do with the lipid content of the craniums.
