once in a life time
and i missed it. Merce Cunningham Dance Co. performed at BAM with music accompaniment by radiohead and sigur ros. for pictures/commentary check out the he link on my menu. the beauty of Cunningham is that he comes up with phrases of dance movement and relies on the roll of the dice for order. he collaborated a great deal with John Cage. alas, the music was ala carte. done right there as the lights dimmed and dancers began movement. no rehearsal no nothing. very cool.

sucky news for the weekend...i got a jury duty notice which schedules me to report for duty exactly 2 days before i go on vacation...there are freakin' plane tickets involved here...i just mailed the questionaire in and filled in the postponement area. and may i say, "f*cken ay?!"
~~~~~~
what else, what else...i've cooled it with the fat intake. have a small tupperware of penne with sauce, 2 grapefruits, 1 apple, 1 small banana, toast and a mug of joe today (this is breakfast and lunch). i'm quitting the gym and doing it on my own. what is the point of paying (even though it is cheap) when it is inconvenient for me? i've got weights, i've got all of my dance training stretches etc. filed in memory...i can run and do hills at the local track. i've got free weights at home.
~~~~~~
my favorite magazine is Vanity Fair, but specifically the music edition. i know that it is a cheesy rag with more ads than words, but it's got Bowie's top album picks from his personal collection of 2500 vinyls. it's got blurbs on new up and coming bands, some well known american singer/songwriters and great A. Lebowitz photos..i love her work. plus Lucinda Williams freakin' rocks on the cover!
sue me for this guilty pleasure. i'll recycle it eventually...
~~~~~~
waiting patiently for Sylvia to show up at the local theatre.
~~~~~~
i did have cookies this weekend and found it too tough to pass up on a .99 bag of brach's candy corn. halloween candy...it's where i want to be.
~~~~~~
it's monday...full of jammed copiers and unemptied garbage cans, runaway buses, and grumpy attitudes. BUT, i'm here baby. dressed and ready to go.
ciao&meow.
Hey, were the trees great this weekend or what? I thought that the trees were supposed to peak this weekend, but they don't look like they're quite there yet. Coming back up from DC the scenery was gorgeous, but especially around Philly.
I love this time of year.
As for Sylvia, I haven't even had a chance yet to see if it's playing locally.
every weekend i get ready to take some pics with the digital but the leaves don't seem to be changing colors... my neighborhood is basically tree-lined and it's a little disappointing... hopefully i'll see some action this coming weekend.
hope you had a great trip, it was a beautiful weekend.
Ah Bowie... That sounds fab. I dig Lucinda too. May have to check that out just for that...
you'll get a kick reading about his little smooch fest with a store clerk while in the booth listening to records.
