but he calls me up
calls me on the phone
tells me all the ways he's gonna
mess me up

i think i ran about 3 miles yesterday morning and walked another 5. it would have been a sin to not spend time outdoors this past weekend. the weather was the best it's been all summer so far, mid-80's, heat index at 4-5, and low humidity. packed the knapsack, headed to the park. it was a little bit of a hike but, worth the peace and quiet tucked underneath a friendly tree and cushioned from the noise by bushes. i had found a perfect spot but it was way too secluded and these days, you can't be too careful, no matter what sex you are. so while i had the friendly tree and noise absorbing bushes, the road was not too far out of my sight. and there were footpaths nearby as well. sometimes, i'd love to go for an early morning run, like say...5:00am, but i just don't think it's safe. maybe if i had a large intimidating looking dog. but sometimes that's not enough either.
everytime i set out to get some color, i find that my tolerance for laying still and baking has decreased. didn't spend too long out there baking and eventually moved the tip of my blanket under the tree for shade, made reading my book easier without the sun beating down on my face.
i don't notice the color until a few hours afterwards and then the freckles really come out...

another monday.
another chance.
never underestimate your strength.
never help anyone put you down.
always respect yourself.
appreciate the gorgeous plants, trees, and flowers,
never nail signs to them.
enjoy the silliness of a dog on his back waiting
for a belly rub.
gush at the cuteness of your cat's paws.
never dress them up.
call your mother in the middle of the afternoon.
buy that pint of icecream and wear your crazy pajamas
while you're listening to your favorite tune.
send a good thought to the wolf at the door.
perhaps it'll turn back to flesh and blood...

I'd like to see you try!
You know, I've just about forgotten what five o'clock in the morning looks like. And I can imagine doing anything that resembles work at that time of day.
