holy manic monday batman!
-got to work late
-no work ID
-no keys to open up
-the equipment gremlins have struck so stuff isn't working
-and, of course, it's an exam day...

welcome to Monday.

of course, Saturday was a little doomed too. finally went to see Sylvia. the entire weekend was absolutely gorgeous weatherwise. warm, sunny and just such a much needed break from the bad news that seeps in from every corner. i slept in. the cats never like that! didn't do much of anything. i was going to head into the city but decided to check out where Sylvia was playing. turns out the movie was playing at my favorite little moviehouse. so, i decide to catch the late afternoon show--$6, me and a few senior couples. i got a drink, a small popcorn and headed to the middle chair in the middle row. i sit down, settle in and realize that the theatre smells like mold/mildew. i hoped that somehow, (yeah right!) it would go away...that they'd get the air going in there...alas, that didn't happen. the movie begins, houselights dim, and lo and behold, after the first 5 minutes of silence, we all realize the damned sound isn't working...
the grey panthers start chanting, "Start it over!". i continue eating my popcorn. the sound kicks in after about 10 minutes... no more mishaps for about an hour, when the movie suddenly turns off, houselights come up and the piped in music begins to play...
i turn around to the one other young girl sitting in the row behind me and say, "we're doomed!"
she agrees.
somewhere in between the beginning of the movie to when it turns off, we lose a few grey panther couples... (apparently the only smart ones in the bunch! who refuse to inhale mold and deal with equipment mishaps and overall incompetance)

i stayed to the bitter end, walk out of a theatre wearing a smirk, give the Chris Martin lookalike ticket taker a thumbs up, and walk home under a half moon wondering why the hell i didn't get my $$ back...

despite the mishaps, Paltrow is such a gorgeous actress. she was heartbreaking given the fact that she had lost her dad just before shooting the film. you just want to hug. there were some shots where it was just haunting to look at her because the resemblance to her character was just unmistakeable. anyone who has seen photos of Plath when she and Ted live in Devon, she's got long hair and wears lots of sweaters, just before Ted leaves...my God, she looks just like Sylvia.

i can't help but wonder what kind of work she'd be doing if she were still alive. a damned shame.

this film is probably for hardcore fans. i wouldn't recommend it to the average joe smoe. it's dark, depressing, and there's no outlet, no relief. only for Sylvia.

on Sunday, i went to town on the apartment....mopped floors, scrubbed sinks, and tiles (with a toothbrush, thanks Pali!) changed cat litter, did laundry, dusted, scrubbed cabinet doors, cleaned the stovetop and parts, did the food shopping, watered plants, brushed out cats, changed linens, and went into the city to mail a package to my uncle in PR (the copy of his parents wedding photo), so i got a nice walk in too! gorgeous Sunday, and it's supposed to be a gorgeous Monday...78 degrees. here's hoping the day gets better. ;-))

With any luck, you're getting all the bad luck for the week over with all at one time, and you'll have a grand rest of the week.

As for me, The Mouth is a Kiss fan, and has brought a CD player and her collection of CD's to work. I keep asking myself, "Is THIS what I went through a liver transplant for?"

You certainly haven't had a boring weekend or Monday.
