snowday!
in NYC. not much panic or mayhem. lots of spontaneous picnics, candle-lit dinners and liquor store purchases. everyone got a play-hookey pass from work and school. some took off to the south street seaport, tossed frisbees, slept on park benches. others emptied their restaurant fridges and said, "let's have a barb-b-que".

sure there were 6x's more fires than usual. sure there were more robberies and some looting (crooks just don't get it!) but all in all, folks did what they had to do to find their way home.

and who couldn't feel for that strangely wonderful animal that is the New Yorker? the sea of bodies overtaking the Brooklyn Bridge? it's tough to not have some sort of admiration for people that live hard, fast, and dangerous. the everyday straphangers who calmly climb out of stuck subway trains...

the same guy you fought with over a parking spot, will hand you a bottle of water during a time like this. a high school teacher directing traffic, tells the newsman he's getting in the way now, he's got to move on...(what moxie!)

sure, there are many people in nyc that would steal the shirt off your back, but there are just as many, if not more, that would give you their shirts.

yous guys rock!
