i've seen this older man walking his babies before, but this time, he decided he'd chew my ear, i listened as i got some dogloving. i miss being around them. bailey is a maltese. shy, thoughtful expression on his face. but i knew underneath the layer of timidity, there was a little bit of spunk and mischief...i suspect every dog has this. along came emmalu, barreling towards my hands and legs. a sort of terrier, poodle grey collie type mix, what a sweetpea. i showed her love and she wagged her tail. i got a little bit of history from Mr. Art. about the neighborhood. about his family life. we said our goodbyes after about 20 minutes and i walked on to buy groceries.
i remembered today is father's day. it felt good to share a nice conversation with an elderly man. my dad was a talker, loved hanging with all kinds of people in the neighborhood. he'd be out and about this beautiful morning, talking and laughing and hiding from mom the sweets he'd gotten.
i saw a beautiful butterfly hovering over the apartment building entranceway. it fluttered away and came back and then off it went again. its wings were trimmed in yellow, the rest in a purple darkblue. such a delicate and yet sturdy hello, come to see me today.
