it was FREAKIN' cold yesterday, but i still went for a morning run. despite having to slow down when i hit a few icy patches on the sidewalks, i ran at a pretty good clip. tissues, tissues, tissues. must remember to buy a small package of them. it's not good to breathe through your mouth when you run...breathing through the nostrils warms the air more before it hits your lungs.
i was a complete lump. i started out with the best intentions: ran, stretched, took a shower, got dressed and decided not to go anywhere because i just had that feeling downtown would be mobbed. so, i watched a PBS special on the Pope instead. i really like that man.
the night before, i had watched Ironman 2003: 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike ride, and a marathon (26.2 mi). that, my friend, is the ultimate race. the best part is when the "average folk" not the elite atheletes, cross the finish line. men and women of all ages, one man raced with his son who suffers from cerebral palsy. need motivation? watching that is motivating, inspiring, and humbling.

i tried in vain to do laundry yesterday. someone decided to leave their things in the washer for well...i checked mid afternoon and by 5pm, the stuff was still in the machine. so, i gave up. the stuff will probably still be there today. i refuse to remove wet items that aren't mine because that means i'll have to babysit my things for fear of retaliation. aren't people wonderful? i need to find the local laudromat. i'm getting tired of this nonsense. i did leave a nice note. but chances are the person won't care. if they did, the situation wouldn't occur in the first place.

otherwise, i got a kick out of watching orangehead try, in vain, to bat at a squirrel. the ivy crawling up the building has gotten thick by one of my windows in the livingroom. this little furry guy makes his way up and makes camp on my window sill. all of a sudden, orangehead bolts to the back of the armchair and begins pawing at the window (perhaps this is the same little guy that used to visit a certain Grey menace...) anyhow, orangehead looked pretty pathetic trying to get the squirrel. she looked up at me with that "Do Something" expression...i opened the window and tapped on the storm window until squirrely got the hint.
