As I sit here and get dialysis treatment before my dialysis weekend begins, it is going onto 1:50 pm and I am sitting here getting 1.7 kilograms of fluid and waste out of my body. Dialysis, all week, has been going smoothly, without too many issues or problems. Every treatment day, I get my catheter output cleaned where the catheter comes out with some alcohol and covered back up with antibacterial patch and covered up again with gauze and tape until my next treatment next Tuesday afternoon after 12 noon. I hav not ever had any problems with the site, but I did have a blood infection that needed to be taken care of in 2022 when my blood became affected with an infection of the blood because of some contaminated medical supplies that were found. When I learned of this blood infection in my body, I was on an antibiotic medication that was given to me through the catheter, and the affected catheter needed to removed and replaced with a temporary catheter, and by the time I finally left the hospital, I had my 6th catheter! Due to running out of access points for a graft or another fistula, I am on my 7th catheter for dialysis. I am grateful that it is working so well without having Cathflo added to it after every treatment since I have been at Fresenius Kidney Care Clinic since July 1st, 2025! The girls and occasional gentleman have been taking care of me. Last week, the nurse had to put Cathflo into my catheter after treatment because my catheter had an issue with some clotting, but Cathflo took care of the clot. As far as MercyHealth is concerned, if I ever need to have my catheter, which is now my 7th catheter, I will go there since the team DOES do a GREAT job with replacing my catheters there! The radiology department is ONE place I DO TRUST as far as MercyHealth is concerned and I’m satisfied with THEM!
Well, now at 2:15 PM, I have 65 minutes left to dialyze. Treatment is going well and smoothly today. My BP is staying above 100/50, and so unless Thursday, I am not having any cramps or dizziness like I did on Thursday, and the nurse Michelle had to stop the machine from pulling anymore fluid and waste from my body. I recovered from the dizziness and the cramping within 15 minutes, and the machine did not pull anymore fluid and waste, but did finish cleaning my blood for the day until I came back to dialysis this morning by 11:15 am today. Dialysis is going smoothly today.
Now, I have one hour left before I get out of here for the weekend! Yay!
