It is has been a while since I’ve updated my dialysis treatments so, here I am today, giving an update on how things are going since the last time I updated .
All week I have noticed that I am not sitting in the same chair as I go into the clinic to get hooked up or tethered to the machine I am using for the next three hours of treatment and sit there reading or being on my iPad for the day the time I am dialyzing. I always let my medical ride know when I will be out and ready to go home and text my caregiver who is helping me get into the apartment in the afternoon. Each of my caregivers, Jackie and Deb, work their schedules and times among each other and get me set up for the afternoon and evening and night in my bedroom until the next day when my caregivers come back to work their next day with/for me. My days dialyzing for 3 hours and no longer dreaded or I don’t feel stressed or threatened anymore which is a plus in my life today and since July 1st of 2025!
Now, being at dialysis clinic at Fresenius Kidney Care, I have been happy, feel right at home and not scrutinized under a telescope lens and being told what is to be worn at dialysis for tech or nurse to get to my catheter better was enough to worry about and be reminded of the 6 years I’ve been going and no one said anything until the last 6 months of my going to MercyHealth Dialysis. It has been a year great joy coming and going to Fresenius Kidney Care even though I have been going on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays at this time. Even Jackie has noticed that I am happier now and the old kristi is back along with a new outlook in life with a power chair.
My ability to walk is improving while coming and going to Fresenius Kidney Care Clinic. The pressure is not there anymore and getting in and out of my power chair to the clinic’s chairs and back has become an easy function for me because I have been working hard and three times a week to get stronger on my own without physical therapy two to three times a week. I feel comfortable and I am very happy at Fresenius.
Today, I have treatment and will be heading downstairs to the lobby to wait for my ride to dialysis and spend 3 hours on a machine and dialyze for the day and then come home for the rest of the weekend and begin my dialysis weekend until Tuesday morning and my dialysis appointments begin another 3 days of treatment.
