As soon as my mouth is clear of bad teeth and healing nicely and I will be getting fit for partials, I will be on the kidney transplant list with Froedert Hospital & Clinics and have blood tests to find out what type and kind of kidney will work best for me. I do have to admit that I am having mixed feelings about having a second transplant because of what prednisone has done to me through the past several years from the beginning of using the medication. I developed cataracts within 10 months after the 1st transplant and had them removed and have lens replacements in 2001 and 2007. The evaluation is over for now, but the testing of the blood and antibodies is not. I’m in for the long haul of finding the best kidney for me and I prefer a living donor kidney because they will last longer.
