It's taken a while of background updates - mixed in with personal offline projects for the summer, paid employment (damn thing!) and some time away, but I've finally made some progress on the latest new feature that will shortly be arriving.

Multiple usernames per login.

This has been a request from a number of people who have multiple email addresses and therefore usernames on the old system. Because the old system used username/password combination to login, many of these users with multiple email addresses had one valid address and then appended numbers to the other email addresses, which the system accepted.

But now because of the updated authentication system, those additional email addresses not being actually valid is a problem - because the passwords were insecure and new ones can't be sent. Thus, those old accounts are currently inaccessible.

Today I have managed to get (on the development server) the ability to link multiple DearDiary accounts to one e-mail address login. The system will then look at all those associated usernames and if no specific choice has been made the first one found will be selected as the current active user. This part of the system is now working and could even be deployed now. But there's no point yet.

The system currently doesn't have any way of allowing you to switch between. That is a detail I still need to finalise and will hopefully get up and running over the next few days.

Watch this space. Those of you who have multiple usernames under different email logins will soon be able to merge them all into one login!
